Hard Truth: Our immigration system is broken!
And it’s time for solutions that actually work. While some focus only on chaos and division, we need leadership that leads with compassion and a commonsense approach that balances security with our American values.
Steps to fix the problem:
1. We Need Smart Border Security: Instead of just rhetoric and blowing up boats in the Caribbean, we need to invest in technology—like upgraded ports of entry, drones and sensor surveillance—to stop the flow of illicit drugs and secure our borders effectively.
2. Pathways to Citizenship: We believe in a fair process for Dreamers and long-time residents who contribute to our communities and economy. We need a fair path to provide legal status for long-term undocumented residents to keeps families together.
3. Economic Growth: By modernizing worker visas and filling critical labor shortages in industries like healthcare, construction, and agriculture, we can grow our economy and reduce the deficit by hundreds of billions.
4. Restoring Order & Humanity: We need to fix the broken asylum system by hiring more judges and staff to process cases quickly and fairly—moving away from a "mass deportation only" strategy that tears communities apart.
It’s time to move past the politics of fear and toward a system that reflects our identity as a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws.
