Trump didn't save American Farmers

Trump didn’t save American farmers — He broke the system and tried to patch it with a check.

A new AP report makes it clearer than ever: Donald Trump’s reckless trade war with China has devastated America’s farming communities — and the $12 billion “aid package” he just announced is nothing more than a Band-Aid on a wound he caused. Trump is once again creating a crisis and then pretending to be the hero with a flashy announcement.
Here’s what really happened:
Trump’s tariffs triggered a trade war with China — the world’s largest buyer of U.S. soybeans. China struck back by slashing purchases to zero.
Farmers became pawns in Trump’s political games and were used by China as leverage in negotiations.
Now Trump is offering $12 billion in aid, attempting to replace the profits farmers should be earning with government checks — checks funded by Trump’s tariff taxes paid by American consumers.
Our farmers deserve better — and farmers themselves know the truth: they want stable markets, not bailouts. Aid might get them through this season, but it doesn’t fix soaring costs, broken trade relationships, or years of uncertainty.
Fifth-generation soybean farmer John Bartman said it best:
“Government bailouts do not make up for our loss of income. We don’t want a bailout. We want markets for our crops. We want to be able to work hard every year and enjoy the fruits of our labor and know that we did it on our own.”
Small family farms are the ones most at risk. They are disappearing under the weight of rising costs and collapsing prices. Meanwhile, the largest corporate farms are the ones most likely to survive — consolidating even more power.
Bottom line: Trump didn’t save our farming industry — he weakened it. He created the crisis, then paid billions trying to cover up the damage.
Farmers deserve better than political games. They deserve stable markets, predictable policies, and a government that helps them grow.
If you send me to Congress, I will fight for our small Georgia family farms to ensure they have the equitable opportunity to succeed.
