Chris meets with Claude Gatebuke, survivor of of the 1994 Rwandan genocide

Chris attended the Bartow County Democrat meeting today for An Afternoon with Claude Gatebuke. Claude and his mother were survivors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

Claude's story of escape and survival was terrifying and inspiring. Today, Claude goes on speaking tours and has written a book in an effort to spread the word of what is still on going in Rwanda, the Congo, and Uganda. Claude explained that this area of the world is rich with minerals and resources that are a necessity in making electronics, batteries, and nuclear weapons. There is constant conflict in this area - the fight to be the group in charge of trillions of dollars worth of resources. The Trump administration and those who attended his inauguration all have a vested interest in the outcome of these conflicts.

It was an honor for Chris to meet Claude today. Chris hopes Claude remains successful in his mission to inform everyone of the ongoing atrocities in that region and why it shold matter to all of us!
